By May 2026 Farmers had an approved Sustainable Insurance Strategy homeowners filing. Reporting on the SIS noted the firm had already seen about a 10% increase in new business in distressed areas, and that eight other SIS filings were through. Mercury and CSAA had been first in December 2025. Travelers announced in April.

Farmers had spent 2023–2025 under a tight new-business cap. An approved SIS filing is the regulator’s trade: use the models and put reinsurance in the rate, write more in the ZIP codes that filled the FAIR Plan. Ten percent more new business is not a reopened floodgate. It is a door that was closed.

If Farmers nonrenewed you in 2024, try again with mitigation proof. If you never had Farmers, you are still in the mix with Mercury, CSAA, and Travelers. We shop those alongside the FAIR Plan so you are not stuck on fire-only coverage because nobody asked.

If this is on your renewal, call the office at (619) 420-8600 or start a quote. We will tell you what the market will actually write.
